From this turnip patch Cleburne’s field of dreams will soon rise, Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain proclaimed Saturday.

True to Cain’s prediction, several hundred on hand enjoyed a morning of baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and no doubt a Chevrolet or two in the mix somewhere.

Much as kids a century and change ago no doubt did, Cleburne kids circa 2016 ran the bases of a temporary diamond that will soon be replaced by The Depot, Cleburne’s new minor league baseball stadium.
